Quick and Easy Guacamole

Hello Friends,

I am happy to share this recipe with you that was shared with me many years ago. At one time, I was afraid to try guacamole because it isn’t the most eye-appealing dip, but I was pleasantly surprised!

While I know some of you may not care for guacamole, I am asking that you try THIS guacamole!!

Trust me, I have had many, many people in my life who said they “didn’t like” guacamole; I made them try it and they fell in love!

So, if you have had a bad experience or you don’t necessary like what they serve at your local Mexican restaurant; I promise you that this recipe will change your mind 🙂

As always, I list the specific brands that I use and that are my favorite. Feel free to switch it up to please your taste buds.

Ingredients you need:

  • 4-5 ripe avocados
  • 3/4 cup Kraft mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup Chi-Chi’s medium red salsa
  • 1/2 cup Mrs. Renfro’s green salsa
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • salt & pepper

When determining whether an avocado is ripe, I do not recommend trusting the “ripe” sticker that some grocery stores put on them. As you can see pictured below, the avocados are almost all black, but you still can’t go just by the color.

Holding it in your hand, gently press your thumb into it. A ripe avocado will “give” a little under the pressure of your thumb, just a little. Sometimes there may only be green avocados that are hard as a rock (because they are not ripe yet); you can place them in a brown paper bag overnight and they will be ripe the next day!

Slice the avocados in half, remove the pit, and use a spoon to scoop the insides out into a large bowl. Squeeze the juice of a lemon on top of the avocados. Don’t forget to watch for seeds! The lemon not only adds flavor, the acidity also keeps the avocados from turning brown.

Use a potato masher to mash the avocados and lemon juice together. You can make it as smooth or lumpy as you like. Also, you could use a fork instead to achieve the same results.

Next, add the mayonnaise, red salsa, green salsa, and salt and pepper to the bowl. Mix together with a spatula or spoon.

You just completed a quick and easy guacamole recipe that is a perfect side dish for a Mexican style meal, snacking, or entertaining! Can you believe it only took 10 minutes?!

Don’t forget the chips!! I usually buy at least two bags; TOSTITOS scoops are perfect for dipping! Enjoy!!

  1. I love guacamole! This looks really similar to how I make mine, first off, no one gives green salsa, tomatillo salsa, enough credit! It is so good with guacamole. Yum! I use sour cream instead of mayo, perhaps I will have to try this!

    1. Thank you Nikki! Yes, green salsa gives it a little “kick”! You can add more if you want more spice in your guacamole. You HAVE to try it with mayonnaise! I got the recipe from one of my friend’s grandmother who was from Mexico … just saying … go authentic! 🙂 Oh but you have to use Kraft … I tried it with some other mayo once; no bueno!

  2. I have to admit I’ve never made guacamole before, but you made it look so quick and simple. I’m trying this tonight!

My favorite tortilla chips are the instore brand from whole foods. Excited!
